“Sassy”
English Bull Terrier, F (9)
Presented problem Nov '12:
Aquired Sassy 3 years ago. Badly neglected by a previous owner. As a young dog, Sassy broke her right front leg. Set in a cast, which twisted. Right FL amputated, incl. shoulder. Severely compensating with her left front leg and her back since. Used to go for 1hr walks, recently only 20 Min. Pain and discomfort on certain movements, especially in the cold, (squealing). Spinal curve to the left side. Also problem on her left wrist. Skin allergy on chin and belly (worst).
Vet diagnosis:
X-ray of Shoulder + Spine. Pronounced curve to the left and pressure on inter-vertebral discs. Painkillers recommended. Owners decided to try Bowen Therapy, vet agreed.
Treatment:
Curve of spine appears to be on Sassy’s left, as the whole right shoulder blade including the front leg are missing. Thoracic and lumbar spine affected curve to Butterfly effect. Sassy severely compensates her weight with her 3 legs and it also creates medial pressure on her left wrist. Treatment reveals tense girth, lumbar area, tense hamstrings and gracilis as overcompensating muscles.
Follow up:
Over the next few sessions, Sassy responded well to Bowen Therapy and the periods of pain reduced significantly in duration and frequency. She now rarely shows signs of discomfort when being picked up. She is back walking up to 30 min and pulls madly on the lead when she spots a kangaroo!
“Before the Bowen, we feared the worst for ‘Sassy’, as she was experiencing increasingly more frequent pain episodes and we did not believe that painkillers were a long term solution. Open to natural healing ourselves, we explored for canine chiropractors and found Jeannine. We are so grateful to her (and Bowen), as she has given ‘Sassy’ a new lease of life and enjoyment!”Peter and Maria Youngs, Gooseberry Hill
“WOLF”
Chihuahua, M (12)
Presented problem May 2013:
For the last 4-5 years, luxating patella 1-2x Yearly. Over Christmas 2012 left knee popped out and in on walks. Right knee ok. Vet checked, loose patella. In January 2013, chased a dog and really luxated knee. Emergency vet check. No ligament, tendon or soft tissue damage. Mechanical. Also confirmed by local vet. Knees still very tender and bowed. Right severely compensating for left .Also has a level 3 heart murmur.
Vet diagnosis:
Left patella severely luxated. Right knee slightly loose, too. Heart murmur, level 3, since 2011. Collapsing trachea. Medication for heart and bronchials.
Treatment:
Light treatment (heart, age, meds), with concentration to hind quarters revealed very clicky stifles (knees). Big gap in patellas, especially left. Both hocks weak and twisting easily, too flexible. Also tense lumbar, adductor to knee, TFL, and neck (from looking up).
Follow up:
A little sore after ‘xt’, no heart issues. Thereafter, much more comfortable and balanced, especially left hind leg. Over the next few weekly sessions, Wolf was leaning a lot less to his right side for compensation, appears less bow legged and has quite a prancy little gait again, even though his hocks are still flexing, but steadier. Graduated to monthly maintenance sessions and is doing really well.
Update:
At the end of Sept 2013, Wolf became extremely ill, and spent a few nights with PVS-EC. He was virtually immobile during his time at the vet hospital and very weak on discharge. He lost a lot of muscle tone during his convalescence and it was some weeks before he recovered his strength. Once Wolf had vet clearance to recommence Bowen Therapy, treatment restarted and he became steadier, more flexible and more energetic. Wolf now has returned to having a session every 4 weeks for maintenance and continues to do really well.
“I was extremely worried about Wolf after he hurt his knee at the park. He couldn’t balance properly and struggled to move without falling over. However, he improved rapidly under Jeannine’s care. Her expertise was also instrumental in getting Wolf back on his feet after his recent illness. He is now doing better than before. Not bad for an old fella! Jeannine has formed a strong bond with Wolf, and you can see he trusts her. He even falls asleep during some of his sessions!’”Sonja Finucane, Vic Park

“WINDSOR”
Staffy, M (12Y)
Presented problem May 2013:
Bloated from Cushing’s disease. Arthritis in hips, not officially diagnosed. Started to collapse seriously 2 weeks before initial treatment. Meloxicam prescribed by the vet to ease pain and inflammation. Touchable in rump now – painful to the point of running away before. Dry and wrinkly skin due to Cushing’s disease. Drags hind feet more and wears down nails. Very low & depressed.
Vet diagnosis:
Cushing’s disease Dec.’12, more to the brain (ultrasound). Diagnosed with underperforming thyroid at 6 years. Taken off thyroid medication (Thyroxine) while on meds for Cushing’s.
Treatment:
Bowen revealed sore and tense areas in Windsor’s neck, withers, lumbar, triceps in shoulders and weak hamstrings. Suggestion of Cartrophen injections.
Over the next five sessions, in combo with drugs, cartrophen injections and Bowen - Windsor started to improve greatly! Overcompensating muscles, tense and sore areas lessened. Walking around more and showing interest. Not dragging hind feet anymore. Stronger in hind quarters overall, skin improved and less bloating. Happier - Not the same dog!!
“We were so worried about Windsor’s deteriorating health and are amazed at how he has gained a new lease of life at 12!! Knowing about Bowen in our family, we found ‘Unleashed Muscles’ on the internet and we are extremely happy how Jeannine has taken care of Winnie. It is so good to see our boy happy – he thinks he’s a puppy again!!”Tanya & Lorenzo Caratti, Wellard
“MAGGIE”
Border Collie, F, (12 ½)
Vet diagnosis (6 years ago):
Right elbow joint infection. Immune mediated disease. Scraped elbow. Operated 5x.Underactive Thyroid.
Presented problem by owner May 2011:
Elbow had been good after ops for the last 5½ years. Flared up again. Changed surgeon. Operated again. Reasonably OK now. Still inflamed. Stitches removed 2 weeks ago, also arthritic in hips. Walking stiff, bunny-hops when running.
Analysis and Treatment:
Right elbow still hot, inflamed and tender. Inflamed, tense muscular tissue in hips due to arthritis. Compensating limp for right shoulder. Full weight to front, very sore and tense at withers and lumbar. Weak hind legs, muscular atrophy in hamstrings.
After the treatment, the inflammation in Maggie’s hips reduced, and she was able to walk reasonably balanced with almost no ‘bunny hopping’. She also appeared happier and more alert. Over the next few days, she was able to get up easier and was freer in movement, and even brought the ball to mum, which she didn’t do in ages!! With a few follow up sessions, Maggie improved greatly in her overall health, posture and happiness
“We were not happy with ‘Maggie’s’ health, and we found ‘Unleashed Muscles’ on the net. Jeannine is fantastic in what she does and had bought ‘Maggie’ more mobility and a new lease of life. “Moogie”, as we nicknamed her, was the happiest she had been in a long time! Although her body was so much better, sadly her kidneys could not keep up. Thank you Jeannine, for giving us our Border Collie back over the last few months, it was great to see her doing her ‘Moogie’ thing!” Sam & Dean Morris, Parkerville WA
“DUGAN”
Bernese Mountain Dog, M, (2 ½)
Spinal trauma at 6 months while playing with another dog. Difficulty walking, weak left hind support, tail in circling motion.
Vet diagnosis:
Spinal thoracic/lumbar vertebrae twisted laterally, pinched nerve. No x-ray. Too young to operate, as Dugan is in growth stage. Anti-inflammatories and observe developments.
Presented problem:
Severe roached back (elevated spine) in thoracic/lumbar spine. Weak left hind leg, slight loss of coordination, dragged heavily after walk, loss of energy. Bows while walking, tail insecure. Needs assistance into car. Dugan has ‘Physio’ by swimming daily in the pool.
After just one treatment, Dugan’s coordination in his left leg improved, and his elevated spine very slightly softened.
Seven following weekly sessions showed massive improvements in Dugan! Spinal elevation is reduced by 2/3, he is so much stronger in is hind leg, and he is walking straight and now also holds up his tail. He is able to stand on his hind quartersand jumps into the car on his own very well. He has his energy back and can keep up with other dogs in the park!

"TED"
Shih Tzu x, M, (5 ½)
Presented problem:
Can hardly move. Very stiff and sore. Fell out of the car and landed twisted. Fine initially, but one week later yelped in pain and couldn't move.
Vet diagnosis:
Clenched nerve or slipped disc in cervical neck. Cortisone injection for inflammation & pain. Acupuncture or Bowen Therapy may help.
Treatment:
After observing Ted's wobbly and very stiff gait (no limping), palpation showed Ted with a very stiff neck, sore withers and lumbar area. A treatment with concentration to the spine, girth, cervical and brachial neck and shoulders was give.
Ted received immediate pain and depression relief and walked with his normal prancy gait! He slept all afternoon and kept his posture well for a week, after which the treatment was repeated. He is now happy and lively again.
"OLLIVER"
Shih Tzu pedigree, M, (14!)
Presented problem:
Adopted into the home six months ago, after owner passed away. Grieving and adjustment to the new home was not easy, Ollie kept 'low key'. Also has a lot of irritating warts, licks his paws frequently and has had ongoing wax build up in the ears, hard to keep clean (allergies). Also sore and vocal pain in hind quarter area when lifted up.
Treatment:
Bowen with lymphatic drainage for 'low key' behaviour, skin and ears, also addressing hind quarter area. Ollie was very impatient throughout the treatment and was very sore in the lumbar area with a strong trigger point in the adductor to the knee.
After the treatment and a follow up session, Ollie was not the same dog! He really came out of his shell and is now very lively. He also doesn't growl anymore when being picked up!
“We are so immensely glad we found Jeannine! She "saved" us, giving us relief and peace, with an additional fountain of knowledge! All completely drug free!! We recommended her to a lot of friends"L & R Black, Mt. Pleasant
"REX"

Presented problem:
Limping in left front leg.
Vet diagnosis:
Not arthritic. Problem posterior to shoulder and bone in elbow. Bowen treatment revealed strong trigger points in withers, posterior to shoulder dorsally, lumbar and thoracic spine. After 13 treatments, Rex is now pulling his owner!

"SPARKY"
King Charles Spaniel, F, (2)
Presented problem:
Sore and in pain in right knee. Yelping and limping after wild play. Has had a few chiropractic sessions…
Vet diagnosis:
Right hind leg luxating patella. Left hind potential luxation as well. Should have surgery. Owners declined. Vet referral for Bowen treatments to improve stability.
Sparky has pet insurance with ‘Pet Plan’.Complementary therapy only claimable through vet referral. Obvious gap in the right cap of the stifle. Bowen treatment revealed strong issues in both knees, but more on the right, lateral thigh and adductor to the stifle, slightly tight hamstrings, and alignment in the tendon to the hock. One week later Sparky didn’t yelp, limped and favoured her leg less. Play was kept at bay. After twelve more sessions, Sparky has now greatly improved, the ligaments and tendons to the knees are now stronger, more supple and hold the knees in place. The gap distances in both stifles have now equally improved.
“We were referred to ’Unleashed Muscles’ Bowen therapy by the vet. We are very pleased how caring Jeannine has been, and how she has improved Sparky’s health. Our dog is running around again well and happy.”K. Avenell, Attadale
"CHAGALL"
Russian Blue, Feline, M (19)
Lost in big storm 22/3/2010. Got hit by a car. Brought to local vet.
Presented problem:
Tender front left leg. Could not bend carpal digits for approx. 1 week after coming home. Slight limp, weight bearing but walking cautiously. Large spee apparent in iris of left eye.
Vet diagnosis and X-ray:
Jaw bone shattered (wired in surgery), nothing else broken, no internal injuries, front leg muscular issue
Treatment:
Light Bowen Therapy application revealed Chagall was very vocal and impatient. No obvious trigger points in shoulder joints. Sore in front left wrist. Very tight brachial neck. Strong TP in outer thighs and adductors to the stifle. Strong energy absorption (hot) in jaw, neck and carpals through Reiki.
After three more sessions, including Reiki, Chagall had recovered remarkably. Limping and soreness was no longer apparent in his front wrist, his neck and hind legs improved, and his jaw had healed well. Spee in iris of left eye had reduced. He was fully relaxed and enjoyed his treatments!
“I'm amazed how quickly Chagall has recovered, considering how sore he has been! Jeannine's deep devotion and care for him was outstanding! I recommend 'Unleashed Muscles' to every pet owner for healing and maintaining well being."Shoshana Latter, Nedlands

Vet diagnosis:
6 months ago. Arthritis in hip joints.

Lucy was quite calm after the treatment, and also through the week. One follow up session with great improvements!

"BUDDHA"
Burmese Ragdoll, Feline, M (4)
Presented problem:
Buddha has epileptic fits, which last approx. 1 minute. Adopted from Cat Haven First fit at ten months old.
Vet diagnosis:
Prior to Cat Haven, history unknown. May have been in a car accident...
Owner comments Buddha fits approx. 3-4 times/year. Last fit 9 months ago and 4 last week. Appears spaced out. Has had 2-4 Reiki sessions, which seem to prolong time between fits. Advised Bowen treatment may not ensure outcome and to observe the time after.
Treatment:
combined with Reiki, revealed a very tight neck, alignment at the base of the skull, lateral neck and bracchio. Great heat release and energy absorption! ‘Buddha’ experienced a fit 20 minutes after the treatment.
Update:
no episode for the last seven days. Not spaced out anymore. Rather quite alert and lively. Reiki only today revealed again a very hot neck at the base of the skull and the rump.
Update 2:
Not an episode in 2 months! Reiki only on cranial neck, thoracic, lumbar spine. Great cranial heat release and energy absorption, like a sponge still.
Update 3:
Not an episode in 2 months, except the previous day. Reiki only reveals great energy absorption on the crown of the head & eyes. Less heat on the neck. -Comment: Buddha absorbs Reiki for up to 1 hour! of his own will. Cats wander off rather quickly, when they had enough.
“I found Bowen therapy and especially Reiki very beneficial for Buddha. It seems to calm and balance his energy and he has no fit for weeks!”T. Boardman, Mt. Pleasant

Very stiff in front and hind legs, difficulty laying down. Dragging of right hind leg. Nearly deaf. Anxious. Touchy and snappy when lifted, especially rear.Bowen treatment revealed strong issues in hind leg adductors to knees and outer thighs.

Vet diagnosis:
Nothing broken, but severe skin abrasions in hind legs. Light Bowen treatments next day for optimum healing. Lily has recovered remarkably well since, and with a few more treatments, has been more relaxed, walking a lot more mobile and is alertly exploring the house.
“We were amazed how well the Bowen treatments have helped Lily to recover, before and especially after the accident! She was a different dog! We would recommend Bowen Therapy without reservation.
